Our Journey
The Hitching Post Family Farm started in Fairmount, Indiana and has been operated by Len and Stephanie since 2008. They also have 4 children you might occasionally see: Michael, Jackie, David and Jason along with 6 Grandchildren.
The Farm started breeding large working dogs in 2000. It started with the Great Pyrenees while
raising Boer goats with friends. The love of the larger breed working dog led to the addition of the Bernese Mountain dog, Newfoundland's, Saint Bernard's, then the Alaskan Malamutes through out the years. Both of our families thoroughly enjoy all the breeds and the unique characteristics and temperament they each possess.
The Fairmount Farm was inhabited for over 100 years. The Wallace Family bought the farm many years ago and they transformed the old Farm into a haven for large breed dogs and Boar goats to continue tradition. We know will do the same with the Silver Lake Farm.
The Wallace's love of antiques and an 18th century cast iron hitching post was the inspiration for the name of the farm. Browse through out website and share the love of country life and the haven of a BIG dog!
